SAMPLE LETTER #2
March 5, 2002

Dear Editor,

Imagine a forest where massive trees, some over 16 feet in diameter, tower hundreds of feet above a bed of giant ferns, vibrant mosses, and colorful endangered plants. Wild fish abound in the cool, clean streams that meander through this ancient land. This place is California, our own backyard.

Tragically, over 97% of these unique ancient ecosystems have already been destroyed. Most people are shocked to learn that it is still legal to cut down a 1,000 year-old tree. Unless we take action immediately, we will lose the last remaining unprotected old-growth forests in California.

We can ensure there will be something left for future generations to see.

Call (213) 484-4474 or check out www.ancienttrees.org and get active!
