THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND WILDLIFE WILL HOLD A HEARING TUESDAY, JANUARY 28TH, 2003
Dear Friends:
In response to Susan Moloney's 52-day hunger strike challenging
Governor Davis to keep his campaign promise to spare "all old-growth
trees", the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Wildlife will
hold a hearing Tuesday, January 28th, 2003 to "determine what the
State can and should do to guarantee adequate protections for our
old-growth trees."
This will be a panel discussion to inform the Committee about the
importance of saving the remaining old-growth trees.
Among those presenting testimony will be Susan Moloney and Julia
Butterfly Hill.
There will be no oral public input at this hearing. If you have
comments to make, the Committee requests that you mail them to:
Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Wildlife
Room 407
State Capitol
Sacramento, CA 95814
Or Fax it to 916-323-2232
***
Please also mail (or fax) a copy to each of the individual
committee members. Their contact information is below. ***
The hearing will take place in Room 112 of the Capitol at 9:00 AM.
This is not a very large room, so it is recommended that you get
there early if you wish to attend. (The Committee will be there at
8:30.) Please note that you will have to go through a security check
to enter the Capitol. Please dress nicely.

In addition to the hearing - and perhaps more importantly - WE INVITE
YOU TO A LOBBY DAY FOR OLD GROWTH ON MONDAY, JANUARY 27TH - the day
prior to the Committee hearing.
We encourage you to meet with your State Senator and/or
Assemblyperson to educate them on the issue of old-growth protection.
If you do not know who your Senator or Assemblyperson, click on these links: Senator and Assemblyperson.
Contact their office as soon as possible to schedule a meeting for
Monday, January 27. In most cases, you will not be able to meet with
the Legislator themselves, but usually you can get an appointment
with a staffer.
If you can lobby on this day, we request that you meet with us in the
basement of the Capitol under the dome at 10:00 AM to receive
informational packets to give the legislators and to go over the main
lobbying points you should be sure to cover.
Join us on January 27th at the Capitol to educate our legislators on
the importance of preserving our old-growth trees.

Creating displays and informational packages and getting people to
these hearings requires funding. We need your help. Another way to
pitch in is to make a donation to The Campaign for Old Growth.
Please make your check - of any size - out to CFOG and mail to
Campaign for Old Growth, PO Box 17456, Los Angeles, CA 90017-0456.
Thank you very much.
